Maria Acosta spent a 26 year career with the U.S. Federal Government and achieved the highest federal civilian pay grade level in Senior Managerial Positions. She received numerous honors and recognition awards. She worked in the field of Business Development, with emphasis in Financing, Accounting, and Auditing. She also worked within the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of IRS (Special Projects); the Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (Regional Administrator); U.S. Small Business Administration as District Deputy Director in Los Angeles and was District Director for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Los Angeles.
Maria retired in 2013. Since Maria’s retirement, she is a highly sought after consultant and speaker.
She consults for the California Manufacturer Technology Consulting (CMTC), a non-profit organization that is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Maria provides CMTC’S clients with Accounting, Bookkeeping & Financial technical services and training on “how to” prepare Business Plans and prepare for Venture Capital.”
As a consultant at USC (University of Southern California) in Los Angeles Maria lectured at an entrepreneurial graduate program “USC Bridges to Business” of USCs Civic Engagement & Economic Development Department, operated in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development. Maria’s lectures were on “Accounting/Financing Best Practices”.
Maria is very civic oriented, and is booked year round to speak or present at various Business or Trade organizations and was recently asked to present at the National Business Women Association at their “Management & Leadership Academy” a nine week course in the Inland Empire. Maria presented on “Paving the way to financial Stability and 2) Financial / Accounting Best Practices. This event was sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America, Edison, the U.S. Small Business Administration and many others.
